  13.     The following are some of my comments:

  23.     I also tried Zoom's sales department and was told that they

  25.     Windows95! I can't believe it. Maybe the sales are trained
  26.     to be proud of their products...

  28.     Anyways, I haven't tried the software yet but I know it's 
  29.     supposed to work ONCE WE GET THE MODEM INSTALLED PROPERLY.
  30.     This is the toughest part.

  32.     Good & Bad news: I finally got my ComStar 28.8 working in 
  33.     Windows95 but guess what? It only installs and works properly
  34.     IF I remove my SoundBlaster16 PnP soundcard! After I put the
  35.     soundcard back in, Windows95 doesn't recognize the ComStar 28.8
  36.     any more.

  38.     I finally recv'd a call from Zoom tech support (Tony) saying that
  39.     there is a hardware conflict between the modem and the soundcard.
  40.     He told me to change the I/O Address on the soundcard - Yes,
  41.     I tried many different ones and still doesn't work. He also asked
  42.     me to consult with Soundblaster manufacturer.

  44.     Apparently it is the incompatibility problem of ComStar 28.8.

  46.     I'm sure you can get ComStar to instasll properly and get
  47.     Win95 to recognize the modem by displaying: "288/Spkr", instead
  48.     of "Unknown Device" detected IF and only IF you remove either
  49.     your soundcard or disk controller card...or other cards.

  51.     I have spent so much time trying to fix this problem but
  52.     haven't found a solution yet....the whole experience has been
  53.     extremely frustrating.

  61.     Mine could be the same or newer than yours. I don't know.
  62.     I'm using AcerOpen motherboard but I don't know about the
  63.     BIOS version of mine. I will check.
